Are you dreaming of an island escape with a twist of history, culture, and wildlife? Look no further than Madagascar! Whether you’re lounging on pristine beaches, fishing, snorkelling, scuba diving, or diving deep into the vibrant local culture, this Indian Ocean gem has something for everyone.

Recently, our clients, an adventurous family of four (with kids aged 16 and 12) embarked on a journey through Madagascar and had a blast! Their adventure kicked off in Antananarivo, affectionately known as “Tana,” before heading to the stunning private reserve of Anjajavy for some well-deserved R&R. Here, they snorkelled, hiked to see lemurs, and marvelled at the majestic Baobab trees, all within the serene privacy of a 10 000-acre conservancy complete with its own beach.

Anjajavy Le Lodge, a Relais & Châteaux property, offered the family a luxurious stay with delectable food, fine wines, and an array of activities. The wildlife and flora in Madagascar are simply breathtaking, from turtles and whale sharks (during season) to the unique Tsingy rock formations, which rise like natural art sculptures across the island.

Their journey continued with a thrilling 7-day catamaran expedition, packed with day and night dives in warm, turquoise waters. They explored vibrant coral reefs, an underwater shipwreck, and soaked in the hospitality of their dive master, Jacques, while enjoying countless sunsets at sea.

The adventure wrapped up on the island of Nosy Be, where the family explored the lively town of Hellville by quad bike. Steeped in French colonial charm, Hellville boasts delicious pastries, vintage Citroën 2CVs and Ylang Ylang Plantations. (The fragrant flowers of this tree are used to produce essential oils, contributing to the island’s nickname, “The Perfume Island.”)

One of the highlights? A stunning sunrise boat cruise on the upper Zambezi River with @pure.africa. The morning couldn’t have been more perfect as we
drifted towards the sunrise and the majestic ‘Smoke that Thunders.’ The peace and harmony felt on the water, combined with delicious coffee and a beautiful breakfast, made it the perfect start to the day. Pure bliss!”
